“Conversational Intelligence:
The Power of YES.”
Big Time Leadership Development Workshop
Weds, Jan 27, 6pm
As an executive or entrepreneur, have you unleashed the power of YES with your leadership?
Are you offering unconditional “YESES” as often as possible?
Effective leaders know that saying “YES” to their teams can only positively impact development, engagement and performance.
The power of “YES” is that it encourages self-driven problem-solving among individual team members.
Unfortunately, many leaders disempower their teams because they don't trust them. They manage projects and people to ensure they don't "fail", or they are threatened by the ambitions of their own team members.
The key difference between being a YES leader who embraces the innovations of their team, and a NO leader who limits or thwarts their teams development, is in the habitual mindset that eventually becomes your leadership style.
And, your leadership style is not a secret. It's your reputation with your team.
If you regularly say NO, or qualify all of your YESES with limits or conditions, your team will start to see you as a barrier to their development, and will eventually stop bringing their ideas, proposals and strengths. Eventually, they'll leave.
Now, can you give the green light to every idea, all the time? Of course not.
However, the QUALITY of your YES mindset is revealed in the conversation you have with your team member.
YES can come in the form of acknowledgement of the idea.
YES is curiosity in what the team member wants to create.
YES is part of an OPEN leadership style that embraces innovation and growth.
Ask yourself:
Am I using this simple engagement technique to strengthen my relationships?
Am I truly open to the unknown possibilities when they are presented to me?
When I say NO, what am I afraid of?
YES opens the doors of possibility and holding those doors open for your teams to walk through is the key to growth.
